Camper forehand

The Clay Hightower Tennis Academy and MADE Scholarships are offering its camps at Berry College.

The 3 one-week camps are residential, coeducational, and open to all levels of tennis players from ages 9 to 17. Campers will spend their days in a variety of activities with the focal point being 5 to 6 hours of fun-filled tennis instruction. The on court ratio of campers to instructors is 5-1.

Our goals at the Berry College Camps are to improve each camper's tennis skills and to have fun while doing it. An integral part of the program will be teaching the basics of hard work and good sportsmanship. Tennis instruction will focus on proper grips, footwork, positioning, stroke production, shot selection, and strategy. Each camper will have the opportunity to hit hundreds of balls during basket drills, live ball drills, and match-play situations.

Camp Director Clay Hightower is the head tennis coach at Berry College for both the men's and women's teams. He brings with him 28 years of experience at the college level as a player and a coach. As Berry's coach, Clay Hightower has over 500 wins. He has led his teams to 10 conference championships and 27 appearances (13 for the women and 14 for the men) at the NAIA National Championships. Clay lives in Rome with his wife, Leslie, and two children, Caroline and Carter.

Co-Camp Director Dennis den Boer was born and raised in the Netherlands and is a Berry College (tennis) alumini. Throughout his college career, Dennis reached a top-5 national ranking in singles and top-3 ranking in doubles. He was named All-Conference player of the year in both 2003 and 2004, as well as  first team All-American for two consecutive years.
